Judge Says Man with 18 DUI's Must Live Near Bar
Omn Saturday, January 3, 1998 in Hillsboro, Ohio, a man with 18 D.U.I.'s was sentenced to live within walking distance of a liquor store or bar to try to keep hi from driving under the influence of alcohol. "It's my hope that he'l walk to get his beer and wine rather than drive," Judge James Hapner said. "Whether it will work or not, I don't know." Dennis Cayse,50, has been charged with DUI at least 24 times since 1971, and has been to prison twice.
Ohio also has revoked his license. Cayse can ony ride as a passenger in a vehicle."He doesn't deny that he is an alcoholic," Hapner said."He just doesn't see that as a problem."
Judge John Hapner doens't care if drunk drivers drink themselves to death. Hapner just wants the man with 18 D.U.I.'s to stop endangering other peoples lives, and get off the road. So the Hillsboro Municipal Court judge ordered the drunk to move within walking distance of the bar by Jan. 31,1998.
In an order signed Wednesday, Hapner gave Cayse a suspended 1 1/2- year jail sentence and placed him on probation for five years. Dennis Cayse is a dangerous man on the streets after he come back from the bar. A first conviction is no laughing matter. It typically involves loss of one's drivers license for 6 months, a 250 dollar fine, and 50 hours of community service.

Son Attempts to Clear Dr. Sam Sheppard's Reputation
Sam Sheppard spent 10 years in jail for killing his wife, and his son, and now Sam Reese Sheppard is now suing because he claims his father didn't do it, and he wants compensation of the time his father spent in jail. Sheppard has gone to every high court in the state of Ohio to get his case presented. If Sam Sheppard's son, Sam Reese Sheppard wins, he could get up to two million dollars. Prosecutors have asked Ohio's high court to throw out the case.
Sam Sheppard claimed that a bushy haired intruder knocked him out and killed
his wife in their home in suburban Cleveland.
Marilyn Sheppard, Sam Sheppard's
pregnant wife from Oakland,California, died 43 years ago after being beaten to death in her bead. Her death was blamed on her husband in 1954 by a jury in Cuyahoga County in northern Ohio. Sam Reese Sheppard was only seven years old when his mother died. He was a young adult when his father died of liver disease in 1970 at age 46.
Sam Reese Sheppard and his legal team hope that DNA and other evidence will prove that Richard Eberling killed his mother. Eberling was a window washer for the family. Right now Richard Eberling is serving a life sentence for killing another woman. Eberling denies killing Marilyn
Sheppard.
No good sample of Sheppard's DNA has been available until now. Earlier DNA tests done by doctors indicated a second persons blood in the Sheppard's home.
Doctors took 50 samples from Sheppard's body to be genetically tested. For that purpose Sheppard's body wes exhumed early Wednesday morning. His son brought 27 daisies to his father's exhumation to place on his casket, one for every year his father had been
dead. When the casket was revealed he put most of the flowers on it and some in teh empty grave. The body was driven to Cleveland where the casket was opened. Witnesses said the body was well preserved, recognizable, and fully clothed. Doctors took samples of bone from Sheppard's skull, arm, leg, and from his hair and skin. After they took the samples Sheppard's body was cremated for his son.
